what options do i have when it comes to acc?

Everyone knows that ACC provides self-employed Kiwis with personal injury insurance, which is compensated for by charging their businesses a levy to cover the costs. What most people don’t know, is that there are actually several ACC cover options available. The two most popular options are Cover Plus (the default option) and Cover Plus Extra. It’s up to you as the business owner to select which option suits you best. There are however a few key differences between these two packages you need to be aware of:

Levies: ACC Cover Plus determines your ACC levy based off your earnings from the previous year, in combination with the level of daily risks you face at work. On the other hand ACC Cover Plus Extra determines your levy based off the risk of your occupation and an agreed upon level of compensation you will receive (should you need time off work as a result of injury).
Compensation: For ACC Cover Plus, compensation will be paid out based on 80% of your earnings from the previous year. You will also need to supply ACC with evidence of your earnings, before they can process your claim.

For ACC Cover Plus Extra, no proof of income is required, as compensation will be provided in full, according to what was negotiated with ACC when setting up your levies. The higher the levies you pay, the higher the compensation you get and visa versa. For both options, compensation will only be given in the case of injury, and not illness related cases.

Waiting Period: There is a mandatory stand down period of seven days for both forms of ACC cover, before a claim can be processed. For individuals with Cover Plus Extra the negotiated compensation will be issued immediately after your claim is accepted.

For the default Cover Plus package, payments can only be issued once proof of earnings from the previous year have been supplied.

should I be worried that you have access to my private information and acc history?

The Levy Advice Bureau DOES NOT have access to your personal ACC records or your activities.  The advisers will always require written consent from you, in order to gain access to any of this information.

If a BIC Code has been provided during our correspondence with you, the code has come from the public ACC supported website: businessdescription.co.nz
.  We have then matched this information with what is available on public record. The BIC Code is not your CU code. The Levy Advice Bureau DOES NOT have access to your CU code. Your private information is safe and you have nothing to worry about.

Can i lodge an acc claim with You or seek financial advice?

We are not ACC and we do not get involved in any ACC Claims. All claims must be lodged with the ACC directly. Our firm does not receive payment from ACC in any way.
The Levy Advice Bureau does not give out financial advice. We operate by putting you in contact with Registered Financial Advisors (RFA's), who are trained professionals in this field. These financial advisors will be responsible for providing you with any financial advice and recommendations relating to your case.  We act as a marketing agent for the RFA's (Registered Financial Advisers) and they pay us to provide this service to them.

Are you ACC & How did you get my number?

We are absolutely not ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation)  and nor do we portray that we are ACC. We are a private organisation that is funded by private RFA (Registered Financial Advisors) who work with both ACC and Private insurance providers who can help give you advice on whether your CU code is correct and will help assist you find out if you a due a refund. This has been done many times before (view here). The advisers will also show you the second option on how to save on your Levies. This is complex and requires someone that is a registered financial adviser. We are NOT registered advisers.
Other questions we get asked: How did you get my number?
We obtain your details though private data providers who sell data to the public or we may simply view your website.
It's what we do!

why aren't acc promoting this and telling people about their options?

ACC is bound by the law and cannot give advice on the insurance cover products they provide. Insurance cover advice must be provided by Registered Financial Advisers (RFA's)  or  Authorised Financial Advisers (AFA's).
That's why the Levy Advice Bureau was established, we help people like you get the answers you need by putting you in contact with qualified RFA's. The advisers pay us a fee and see this an introduction for an opportunity as an insurance lead after they helped you asses your acc levies. There is no hard sell. No tricks. Just good honest advice.
